Sartaj Gill graduated from Brunel University London with a BSc (Hons) in Economics and Accountancy in July 1985. He joined what was then known as Inland Revenue and completed his professional tax qualifications (FTII) in 1991, working as a fully trained HM Inspector of Taxes.
Sartaj was with HMRC Large Business Service for 7 years as a Client Relationship Manager dealing with large corporates such as Volkswagen, British Airways and DHL working on all aspects of tax, transfer pricing, VAT and corporate governance. He was National Lead for the implementation and development of policy and training for the new tax penalty regime in 2009.
Sartaj spent nearly 20 years in an operational role with Fraud Investigation Service (FIS) which is an elite specially trained unit within HMRC, set up to tackle the most serious and complex cases involving tax fraud and avoidance. He was an Assistant Director in Offshore, Corporate and Wealthy Compliance involved in senior management, fraud policy and operational procedures, Corporate Criminal Offence (CCO) and was an accredited trainer for fraud investigators.
Sartaj Gill left HMRC on 31 December 2020 to set up Housman Consulting, a company offering tax investigation and accountancy services.
