NETWORKING EVENT – THURSDAY 17 AUGUST 2023

Dear Colleagues,

TAX GROUP NETWORKS – MIDLANDS

NETWORKING EVENT – THURSDAY 17 AUGUST 2023

Time and Date: 12:30 to 3:15 pm on Thursday, 17 August 2023

Venue: Chamber House, 75 Harborne Rd, Birmingham, B15 3DH

Good morning, I am delighted to announce that the next meeting of the Tax Group Networks (TGN) has been arranged for 12:30 on Thursday, 17 August 2023.

It will be a great opportunity to learn, engage, and make business connections with professionals in the tax, accountancy, and finance world, not forgetting entrepreneurs and business owners.

It promises to be a cracking event. I warn you now that some of the content may come with a health warning!

This time around we are focusing on three important areas in our work:

1. The emergence of Artificial Intelligence (AI) as a tool and how it might impact on workflow in a business environment.

2. Commercial Finance and Tax on Property.

3. Tax Planning, Inheritance Tax, and High Net Worth Individuals.

We have secured excellent keynote speakers who will share their insights and expertise. First up, we have Christopher J Williams (LEN AI – Implementation and Content Creation) who will talk about AI as a tool to work smarter in a business environment. For a bit of homework, I strongly urge you to view Chris’s LinkedIn profile and connect with him (as indeed the same for all keynote speakers, please). I have personally sat through one of Chris’s presentations; it is entertaining, relevant, and delivered with a sense of humor. It will open your eyes to the potential for AI to impact on how you run your business.

Next, we have a double act from Harmesh Singh Pooni (Armco Portfolio) and Aulfat Bi (Innovation 4 Business) who will discuss Commercial Finance, Capital Allowances, and Tax on Property. It is a little-known fact that both Harmesh and Aulfat operate out of the tallest and most salubrious building (#18 floor 103 Colmore Row) in Birmingham City Centre. They will share insight and technical expertise around working with accountants to secure commercial funding and how to structure property transactions in the most tax-efficient way.

The final keynote will be delivered by Chan Singh (Tavistock Private Client), who is a ‘money man’ through and through. Chan is a mortgage advisor and financial planner; he will walk us through tax planning and wealth management for High Net Worth Individuals. I am sure there will be several ‘tips’ and ‘tricks of the trade’ along the way.

All our keynote speakers have given up their precious time; TGN is really appreciative and thanks all speakers.

This event is again being held in partnership between Housman Consulting and the Asian Business Chamber of Commerce (ABCC), who are supporting the Tax Group Network.

I am also really pleased to announce that the event is being sponsored by Situl Raithatha at Springfields Advisory LLP. This firm (based in Leicester) specialises in business restructuring and insolvency, operating throughout the UK. This is the first time one of our TGN events is being supported in this way, and many thanks to Situl and the team at Springfields Advisory LLP. If you are interested in sponsoring a future TGN event, please get in touch with me.

For new members, here is a link to previous networking events: Tax Group Networks (18 May 2023) – Every day is a school day | Housman Consulting. The aim has always been to develop an educational and learning platform to help and support each other as professionals, hence the tagline ‘every day is a school day’. It is also an opportunity for personal development and making business connections through networking in the tax and accountancy world.

Due to the growing size of our group, please respond to the invite so that we can manage numbers. We cannot guarantee spaces will be available, so please ensure that you confirm your attendance as soon as possible to secure your spot. If you want to bring along a colleague, please feel free, so long as you confirm their attendance by email.

Food and refreshments (sandwiches, samosas, and soft drinks) will be served as usual at the start of the networking session. If you have any dietary requirements, please let me know, and we will do our best to accommodate.

Once again, we would like to thank you for supporting the Tax Group Network (Midlands), and we hope to see you on 17 August 2023.
